Are You An Avid Traveler? Or Fancy Being One? Then READ This Book.
It is a great fictionalized history book. It helped me travel to places where I cannot, feel the culture and standards of certain periods of time that have swept past by, and more. I found it to be a great page turner. I could not help keep flipping through the pages; page after page told me that Etta and Nicholas have travelled to so and so place on such and such year. It was a really exciting experience for me.
One of the best ways to express oneself and one’s desire is through music. Thankfully the heroine in this book is not full of self-pity and self-loathing but instead is an accomplished artist in her own right. I admired her perseverance and determination, the fact that she is not lazy and practices for several hours every day in order to achieve a true mastery of her craft. When the author tells you how Etta used to imagine herself playing a violin even when she did not have one, you know how passionate she is about this musical instrument. In particular I enjoyed the water voyages, music and songs, plus the extremely well-handled smooth transitions from one place and time to another. Recommended. I wish I was as lucky as Etta.
